Cool Stuff
I purchased the CD for "Time Has Come Today," a psychedelic song from 1968 (#11). Though a great song, there are others that I thoroughly enjoyed too, such as "People Get Ready" (an Impressions' cover), "I Can't Stand It," "You Got the Power to Turn Me on," "I Can't Turn You Loose," "Are You Ready," "Funky," and my fav, a live version of "Wade in the Water." The single cut that makes me wince is "New Generation" and its falsetto lead vocal. Because of the title song, I imagined that the band leaned to the psychedelic, but they're an amalgam of many different styles including rock, funk, R&B and so on. All for the better. Interesting and enjoyable. No text. Brief but enlightening liner notes.

Time Has Come Today! This original sounds as good today as ever! It is as meaningful today as when it was released in the late 1960's. Saw Steve Earle and Sheryl Crow do "Time" on Letterman years ago and they really did not have to change anything. The song stands up well.

Escellent!
The Chambers Brothers are a woefully neglected R&B & R&R band, and this is an excellent anthology of their best work.
