When Rip Porter (Pepper) went to prison, his wife, Wendy (Sorvino), couldn't handle the responsibilities of being a single parent. Wanting the best for her newborn son, Joey, she put the boy up for adoption. Adopted by Jack (Cole Hauser) and Molly Campbell (Kate Levering), Joey now enjoys an idyllic life with his new parents in a small town just outside of West Palm Beach, FL. Then, one day, Jack and Molly receive a troubling phone call from the social worker who assisted with the adoption: Rip has just been released from prison, and he's eager to start a new life with his wife Wendy and son Joey (Maxwell Perry Cotton). A judge has just issued a ruling stating that the Campbells have no choice but to return Joey to his biological parents -- but what if Jack and Molly were simply to disappear with Joey, like dandelion dust, never to be seen again? The film is adapted from the best-selling novel by Karen Kingsbury.

Compelling Plot
I loved the book so had to follow up with the movie. It's always a struggle to decide either to read or watch first so it doesn't ruin the effect. In this case, maybe I should have watched the movie first? There's always more detail in the book. I must admit, I've seen better acting from the two leads. I was a little surprised about that. The other person that watched it with me thought it was a heart wrenching story & really got into it though so I must have just set my expectations too high from reading first.

Anger is the topic
Painful to watch in places. Anger is the topic..Everyone handled it wrong.. The person that should have gotten angry, didn't. The rest handled it wrong. No one got mad at themselves; (which would have been entirely appropriate.) Money doesn't solve everything. -It'll keep you on the edge of your seat, and make you think when it's done. - No one thought to pray. -That should have been first. This is an important movie.

Excellent movie to watch and see some of Lifes trials and what happens after.
WOW this movie shows how a person can change and how she stood beside her man through all what they faced together especially what happened to her...Everyone should watch this we surely can learn from others children and adults. Thank You...One more thing have kleenex handy cause this movie will bring tears to eyes it did mine and I'm sure it will yours.

Just okay
While the movie is okay, the book is so much better. Too much was changed in the movie. I highly recommend reading the book! I could have skipped the movie.
