Bob Jones (Michael Keaton) is diagnosed with terminal cancer just as his wife Gail (Nicole Kidman) learns she is pregnant with the couple's first child. Realizing he might die before the child is born, Bob decides to make a video about his life so that his child will someday be able to know him. In making the video, Bob embarks on a journey of self-discovery and decides to reconcile with his past, including a years-long estrangement with his own father.

WOW!!! Terrific Looking Vintage 1980's Faball Hammer with no gouges, nicks or scrapes at a Great Price. Packaging was Excellent and in a Decorative Box with lots of protective packing material. Sellers detailed measurements are right on and I look forward to using it soon. The only hitch was the USPS Ground Advantage didn't move the ball for 2 days and then sent the ball back to the distribution center after it reached my town causing another delay. The USPS issues are not the seller's fault

My life with Michael Keaton
This movie is very sad, yet very real. It is a very engaging story, that could and I am sure has happened in real life. It kept my attention from beginning to end. Great movie!!!

Other than "Avalon", few movies focus on the unique interpersonal relationships between immigrants and their first gen children. It is oddly, a story little told, maybe out of embarrassment or shame in exposing "family secrets". Nevertheless, it is a huge dynamic, every day, as more people emigrate here, and as their children move past their parents as "real Americans." Michael Keaton is Bob Jones, born Bobby Ivanovich, the son of an Ukrainian immigrant who became a junk recycler. When he was able, after college, Bobby anglicized (technically, it should have been Johnson), his family name and moved to California. Now, he gets a terminal diagnosis, while his wife is 5-6 months pregnant. Completely unglued and free falling, he eventually decides to see an Asian non-traditional healer ... Other than "Avalon", few movies focus on the unique interpersonal relationships between immigrants and their first gen children. In the meantime, he tries to reconcile and tell his family his situation, but the barriers are still too much to overcome. The walls he created, are far too tall, far, far too deep to come down easily. Only when the end appears suddenly, after a period of hope, does Bob drop his walls, and come clean. Bring a case of tissues. There are two moments that still affect me whenever I think of this movie. One, the conversation on the swing set between Bobby and his brother, which provides a rarely seen insight between the two competing views of immigrant children on their parent's place in society and the social hierarchy. Two, the circus - one of the best moments in any film. Give it a chance, though some might see some of it as maudlin. It combines the immigrant family experience with family medical crisis, and a bit of existentialism. Well worth it.

"My Life"- Heartfelt movie that will make you think about your own life.
The movie is great what I didn't appreciate is the format. Nowhere in the description does it say this is only formatted for old school square TV's. Kind of shady not to list that detail.

This was a decent movie, slow at times, but mainly engaging and creative.

loved, loved, loved it
One of the first Michael Keaton films I ever saw, and it made a lasting memory. I bought this because I needed to see it again. A heart-wrenching story done beautifully by Michael Keaton. I was not disappointed at all. The only Keaton movie I was disappointed in was Birdcage, the one the critics loved. Go figurel
