Simple yet effective
I remember Scary Stories from when I was a kid and just how much the simply written stories effected me. Along with the bizarre artwork of Stephen Gammell. I recently purchased some used copies from Ebay, and made sure it contained the original artwork not the new artwork you see in the new editions, and am happy to say the stories are still as compelling as they were when I was a kid. They are simple, yet strangely primal in how they tap into that ancient emotion of fear and dread we all hold inside. I got the books to read to my girlfriend's little boy who is now nine. At first he wasn't interested until I read him the first story, 'The Big Toe'. Now every night he wants me to sit in his room and read him a tale or two and spark his imagination like the stories did for me when I was a child.

Nostalgia at it's Best.
You have to go with the Original Art with these books. I remember reading them back in the day when I was a kid and those creepy stories go best with the even creepier Artwork. The newer ones are a far cry from Gammell, like someone hired a grade schooler to draw it. Like the title says; Nostalgia at it's Best!

Perfect Gift
My sister had this set as a kid, but it was given away. The earlier editions have much better illustrations so I was looking for an earlier print. These books were in great condition-exactly as advertised, and arrived promptly. Thanks for making my sister’s Christmas!

Favorite book from childhood
I am 38 and had this book when i was around 8. I carried it with me everywhere. I loved this book and the scary stories which are age appropriate for a youngster who loves scary things. So i found this book on ebay and purchased it so i could read it to my son who of course, loves all things scary.

A Winner for all ages 10 and above!
This is a childhood favorite. My grandkids cannot stop reading and re-reading this book! It’s like the TV program “Stranger Things” only this book is the 1st of the original scary short story books. My own children read these books growing up and fortunately I still had the other copies but somehow had lost this one.

Great book with chilling stories!
I love scary stories to tell in the dark! Recently I lost the first book with the original stories and copy Luckily I was able to re order it and it arrived just as new! Highly recommend!!!

Hard to find
This book was a hard to find Title in my area. Was very pleased to find a copy with the original cover picture, exactly what I wanted.

Nostalgic and spooky, very good
You're buying this book because of nostalgia, and it is just as creepy and wonderful as you remember. Def smaller in the hands, but that's mostly on you. Would highly recommend.
