Get to know all the Gilbert and Sullivan Operas!
A great purchase for getting to know all the G&S Operettas, they are all introduced by Douglas Fairbanks, and the settings are not on stage, but as filmset's which make for a different experience. They are quite a few years old, but I was pleasantly surprised they had Dolby 5.1 or Stereo Sound. What makes them a special is the main characters are legends of the Cinema, ie Frankie Howard playing Sir Joseph Porter in HMS Pinafore! and Vincent Price in Ruddigore! all in all a wonderful buy.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

If you like G &S then this is for you.

Great buy for G&S fans
Good to have all the G&S operas in one package to watch at leisure, as they’re not performed much nowadays. 40-year old recordings, but recorded specifically for DVD, so no audience. An Excellent Introduction to GIlbert & Sullivan
This is a very good collection. Each DVD is introduced by Michael Douglas Junior with interesting information about the musical came to be written. The musicals are well staged, in period costume, with good singers and actors. Wonderful memories
Only the older generation to appear to still enjoy the wit of W.S.Gilbert and the lyrical and clever music of Sir Arthur Sullivan. This is a great shame. These are all experienced performers from D'Oyley Carte and ENO plus additional guests ranging from Frankie Howerd to Vincent Price.
