Reviews"Only Tyler could put together a sandwich with the seemingly insane combination of roasted broccoli, lychee, and ricotta salata, and have it be so delicious! This very talented cook will take you on a intergalactic voyage." -- Jean-Georges Vongerichten       "Tyler and his approach to sandwiches are equal parts clever, hilarious, and deeply dirty (in all the right ways). I'm obsessed with the never-ending possibility of what a sandwich can be, and so I'm a supreme fan girl of everything that Tyler and his crazy mind inserts between these pages and two pieces of bread." -- Christina Tosi     "I've always said that if you want white people to understand your culture, you should put it on bread. In the tradition of pairing the "other" with simple carbohydrates, Tyler Kord has written a book about sandwiches so that finally white people may understand the culture of self-hating, neurotic, New York chefs." -- Eddie Huang

  • Unexpected, creative recipes presented in a straightforward yet funny style

    - The author has the kind of manic humor I enjoy. I like other kinds of humor, too, but I'm partial to his "I just slammed three Irish coffees" self-deprecatory style. Kord is amusingly playful with punctuation. And he swears a lot, but not gratuitously. So don't buy this book if you're easily offended by profanity. Me, I don't understand how anyone can cook without swearing, at least under their breath. - The recipes are creative and unexpected while remaining unpretentious. As someone who enjoys fresh pineapple with kimchi for breakfast and savory French toast* for dinner, I like the unpredictable combinations that I would never have come up with. My partner (who puts red chili flakes or Sriracha into almost everything, including oatmeal but not yet Cheerios) loves broccoli, so that's a no-brainer (there are a lot of broccoli recipes in this book). And Kord addresses culinary ethical issues without being preachy or overbearing. - I'm a Wegman (book's illustrator) fan. Not just the Weimaraners but also his short films, etc. - The food styling is great. *Sorry, Tyler. I live in Maple Syrup Country and love the stuff too, but I prefer my French Toast savory. Maybe
