ReviewsThis book has tons a pictures, making it much easier to understand what the writer is saying. I learned a bunch of time saving tricks. He should have called this "Checkering Made Easy", because it is. I have always wanted to learn checkering. Serman Mays book had me cutting lines faster than I could have imagined. Checering by S.L. Mays may not win the Pulitzer prize, but it should get an award for making it easy to learn how to checker gun stocks. I have been carving wood for a while, I thought it would be nice to learn chckering so I could add that skill to my projects. I was surprised how easy it was too learn, this book teaches many methods and techniques. I may even start checking gun stocks... Who knew? Answered every question I had about starting out checkering gun stocks. As a Gunsmithing instructor, I look for quality materials to teach with. "Checkering, A book of checkering for the beginner" is one of the most complete teaching resources I have found on the subject. Cudos to S.L. Mays, great job!
