Tennessee Williams based his screenplay on Oscar Saul's adaptation of Williams' Pulitzer Prize-winning play set in a grimy New Orleans project. The story of the fragile sentimentalism of a former prostitute who visits her sister only to be taunted mercilessly by her childish brother-in-law. Academy Award Nominations: 12, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Marlon Brando), and Best Screeplay. Academy Awards: 4, including Best Actress (Vivien Leigh), Best Supporting Actress (Kim Hunter), and Best Supporting Actor (Karl Malden). The director's cut contains three minutes of previously censored footage.

A street car named desire 2 discs special edition
A true classic at its best. Marlon Brando is superb in this film based on the players. Well worth a watch 👍👍

We needed a copy for our high schooler to watch for English Lit. It came in time and my husband and I enjoyed it too!

A film that spoke to a generation.
There are many reasons this film is a classic. Tennessee Williams is a genius. Elia Kazan is a visionary. This is an epic in the history of film. They do not make them like this any more.

Great movie of a great play
The screenplay, acting and sets are superb, especially Vivian Leigh's acting. She is amazing.

Great classic movie
A skilled production of a famous play by Tennessee Williams- wonderful acting by Brando and Leigh. Moody b&w photography. Sad and depressing of course, but a classic movie.
