Director John McTiernan takes viewers back to 900 A.D. in THE 13th WARRIOR. After courting "an untouchable" Muslim princess, Ahmed (Antonio Banderas) is banished and sent North as an emissary. When traveling from Baghdad to Saqaliba, he stumbles into an encampment of Vikings. At first repulsed by their Nordic ways, Ahmed soon grows fond of the Northerners and joins their party.<BR>When news is brought that a horde of flesh eating monsters are ravaging the land, the mystic Oracle ordains that a group of 13 must travel to fight their evil doings. Twelve Nordes rom the party are chosen, Ahmed, a Muslim, is picked as the thirteenth. Knowing that defeat is eminent, the 13 warriors must undergo indeterminable odds to battle and rid the land of the horrific flesh eaters.<BR>The 13th Warrior is an epic tour de force created by two of Hollywood's most ingenious: Michael Crichton (JURASSIC PARK, LOOKER) and John McTiernan (PREDATOR, THE LAST ACTION HERO).     Ravage, Plunder, Myths & Legends, Temperate rainforest Vancouver Island European Cast!!!

    the disc was absolutely covered in scratches, never seen one in such poor condition. I didn't expect it to work, and it didn't, in either of my ordinary dvd players. Pleased it 90% played in a friends blue tooth player , some stop & starts... freezes, but minimal spoilage of the film. Glad about being able to see it ( a recommendation) brilliant in many ways. by its obvious popularity I would maybe buy it again but only from new. my 1 star choice was only for the disc quality the film itself, I would give 4 stars & many thanks for making me go find some fabulous UK produced, Beowulf documentaries , performances, Celtic subject matter , which The 13th Warrior led me too so........maybe I should give it 5 stars for that !

    Swords and Vikings at its best!!😁😸

    Excellent yarn told in a different way! The casting was quite inspired! A well realized tale of good defeating evil. Not usually a fan of Mr. Banderas but his acting was superb in this role!! Action and adventure and a load of fun!! Recommended!!😁😸👏👏👏👏👏👍👍

    Worth watching, but a missed opportunity.

    I came to this having just read the book which I enjoyed. The first 20 minutes or so of the movie are not good, and the film has a rushed feel to it. I don’t think the characters are properly introduced. The vikings are also not played with enough charisma, and don’t stand out and engage. However, as the film goes on it gets better, and becomes quite entertaining, but it always has the feel of something that could have been done a lot better. 6/10.

    Viking adventure

    An old film now but entertaining enough. Omar steals the acting award as usual. A bit Hamish in the acting stakes but if you forgive it that and suspend your belief a little then a good enough bit of entertainment. I suspect the book is a lot better having read many of Michael Crichton’s books. Relative to his other film adaptations this is under par.
