Reviews
"Hand's terse but transporting prose keeps the reader turning pagesuntil Neary's gritty charm does, finally, shine through." (B) -- Entertainment Weekly * "Hand (Mortal Love) explores the narrow boundary between artisticgenius and madness in this gritty, profoundly unsettling literarythriller." -- Publishers Weekly (starred review) "A riveting page-turner." -- Valley Advocate "The novel crackles with energy: it is alive." -- Nicholas Rombes, (The Ramones and New Punk Cinema) "Intense and atmospheric, Generation Loss is an inventive brew ofpostpunk attitude and dark mystery. Elizabeth Hand writes withcraftsmanship and passion." -- George Pelecanos "Lucid and beautifully rendered. Great, unforgiving wilderness, avanished teenager, an excellent villain, and an obsession with art thatshades into death: what else do you need? An excellent book." -- Brian Evenson, The Open Curtain "This smart, dark, literary thriller will keep you up at night. A photographer who has been drinking, doing drugs, and alienating everyone around her since the '70s goes to Maine to interview a legendary photographer and gets caught up in the case of a missing girl." -- Megan Sullivan, Boston Globe "Hand ( Mortal Love, Black Light ) expertly ratchets up the suspense until it's at the level of a high-pitched scream near novel's end." -- Milwaukee Journal Sentinel "Cass Neary, Elizabeth Hand's unlikely heroine in her latest novel Generation Loss, may be hard to like, but I found her story is easy to love." -- Feminist Review, "Sharp, clear, and mercilessly lean. Not only did that style fit Cass, it fit Hand: The author, roughly the same age as her character, was also a part of the punk scene in her youth. Generation Loss rasps with gritty authenticity, from the copious references to artists like Iggy Pop and the Ramones to the way Cass' hardcore attraction to damage and destruction propels her deep into the book's maze of murder and secrets."-- Jason Heller, NPR"Although it moves like a thriller, it detonates with greater resound. A dark and beautiful novel."--Washington Post Book World"Cass is a marvel, someone with whom we take the difficult journey toward delayed adulthood, wishing her encouragement despite grave odds." -- Los Angeles Times"Like William Burroughs and Mary Gaitskill, Hand stuns her readers into finding enjoyment in her gravel pit." -- Cleveland Plain Dealer"Hand's terse but transporting prose keeps the reader turning pages until Neary's gritty charm does, finally, shine through." -- Entertainment Weekly"Intense and atmospheric, Generation Loss is an inventive brew of postpunk attitude and dark mystery. Elizabeth Hand writes with craftsmanship and passion." George Pelecanos"Hand (Mortal Love) explores the narrow boundary between artistic genius and madness in this gritty, profoundly unsettling literary thriller." -- Publishers Weekly (starred review)"A riveting page-turner." -- Valley Advocate"The novel crackles with energy: it is alive." -- Nicholas Rombes (The Ramones and New Punk Cinema)"Intense and atmospheric, Generation Loss is an inventive brew of postpunk attitude and dark mystery. Great, unforgiving wilderness, a vanished teenager, an excellent villain, and an obsession with art that shades into death: what else do you need? Synopsis
Cass Neary made her name in the 1970s as a photographer embedded in the burgeoning punk movement in New York City. Her pictures of the musicians and hangers on, the infamous, the damned, and the dead, got her into art galleries and a book deal. But thirty years later she is adrift, on her way down, and almost out. Then an old acquaintance sends her on a mercy gig to interview a famously reclusive photographer who lives on an island in Maine. When she arrives Downeast, Cass stumbles across a decades-old mystery that is still claiming victims, and into one final shot at redemption. Generation Loss is the Shirley Jackson Award winning novel that launched Elizabeth Hand's ex-punk photographer Cass Neary into the world.

- 2***4 (156)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzter MonatBestätigter KaufGot the TV series combat, season 2 volume one from the seller and they shipped it out fast and well wrapped up for the journey. It arrived earlier than listed and in the condition they listed it as being. This is not a series easy to find out side of complete box set yet alone for the great price they sold it for. The seller showed great communication and I'd buy from them again without question. Good series and good seller.

Customer service was prompt and helpful, answering all my questions. My order arrived quickly, well-packaged, and the product exceeded my expectations in quality. I’m impressed with the attention to detail and the overall experience. I’ll definitely shop here again and highly recommend from this seller to others. Thank you for a fantastic experience!
- k***a (217)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzter MonatBestätigter KaufBook is beautiful, but jacket is worn more than the pictures. Restorable, but annoying. Only wrapped in shipping plastic with no padding or other protection, but fortunately it came through ok. Overall I'm happy with the book, and seller gave a very good price, but should show more better pictures and pack the books better. Anyway, this will be a great addition to my Kubrick collection, and I can recommend the seller.
