SynopsisThe inspiration for the movie of the same name starring Steve McQueen, "The Great Escape" chronicles the largest Allied escape attempt--using their bare hands and crude homemade tools to dig their way out--from a German POW camp during World War II.
I found this first edition on eBay. It was a library book, so it was not pristine. I've read the book many times starting with a paperback copy in 1963, the year the film was released. The book is excellent. Fortunately, many of the players were still alive when Brickhill wrote the book. There have been other versions written, but this one is the best. It is a very easy read. It highlights the ingenuity of man.
Yes, you can get a Nook or Kindle version, but I love the feel of a real book and the illustrations and photos are good.
