This one-volume hardcover edition contains the complete text, fully corrected and reset, which is printed in red and black and features, for the very first time, thirty color illustrations, maps and sketches drawn by Tolkien himself as he composed this epic work. These include the pages from the Book of Mazarbul, marvellous facsimiles created by Tolkien to accompany the famous 'Bridge of Khazad-dum' chapter. Also appearing are two removable fold-out maps drawn by Christopher Tolkien revealing all the detail of Middle-earth. This very special deluxe edition is quarterbound with raised ribs on the spine and stamped in two foils. The pages are edged in gold and contained within are special features unique to this edition.

      Lord of the rings special edition.

      Lord of the rings, excellent book. This edition is excellent, with a great cover, maps, and the color illustrations by the author. A must have if you are a Tolkien lover.

      Nice value, but…

      Quality, no wear. I like the included map. I had previously bought a 1965 edition for around the same price. It was in great shape. I would suggest looking for a similar value. The absence of finding a book such as the one I described, this one would work fine.

      Excellent Copy good price shipped promptly

      This is one of many out of print 50th anniversary editions of Lord of the Rings, one of the all time classic fiction novels of the 20th century. This copy is in excellent condition, arrived on time, and I felt it was at a reasonable price. If you are interested in collectibles, you have to sort out how many of the different versions were issued on the 50th anniversary. This is a nice edition.

      Beautiful Addition to the Library

      This book is for the serious adventurer in Middle Earth. The book slip, the interior, the illustrations all are well above average. Even the box packaging is the map of Middle Earth. But this now and watch it increase in value over time.
