    The story is one of the greats, so I'll just comment on this edition.

    This is a carefully edited text, to bring it as close as possible to what Tolkien wanted. Many typos have been corrected. Additions have been made that he wanted but were not included due to cost, such as the color plates. The map of Middle-Earth has had corrections and additions from the poster and Unfinished Tales. Some family-trees have been added. Physically the book is nice. It comes in a slipcase. The paper is opaque enough so the text on the other side does not come through (a problem when large books are printed on thin paper). The font is very readable (unlike the 2nd edition of the Silmarillion). Illustrations are clean (unlike the 75th anniversary of the Hobbit). The use of red text for some (maybe all?) of the invented language phrases and runes is a nice touch. Good to look ...

    Complete your geekiness

    50th anniversary edition of Lord of the Rings. Final edit from Christopher Tolkien. This is how JRR wanted it in one big edition. Gold Leaf page edges and leather cover in Slip case. This is the best. Now I am a complete Geek.

    Looks good. Price is great. Book is even better.

    Easily the best looking LOTR book outside of custom covers. Great price compared to how much you could get a different version of LOTR. Book is amazing. I read them after watching all the movies and safe to say it made me love LOTR more.

    A Wonderful Addition for a Collection!

    This 50th Anniversary Edition of the complete Lord of the Rings story is a great addition for any collection of Tolkien's works or for a general literary collection as well. It's beautiful, both inside and out! A good purchase.
