Reviews
[Mapping the Social Landscape] is the best reader for introductory sociology that I have found. It is an excellent collection of sociological work that is presented in a very abridged, student-friendly format. There are well-written introductions to each work by Ferguson which allows students to see how the reading relates to other sociological concepts and topics., I have used Mapping the Social Landscape for a decade, and I am pleased with the chosen articles, both classic and contemporary, and with the short introduction to each article. My students enjoy reading the assigned articles far better than their textbook reading., I have used Mapping the Social Landscape for a decade, and I am pleased with the chosen articles, both classic and contemporary, and with the short introduction to each article.
