In February 1793 France declared war on Britain, and for the next twenty-two years the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars raged. This was to be the longest, cruelest war ever fought at sea, comparable in scale only to the Second World War. New naval tactics were brought to bear, along with such unheard-of weapons as rockets, torpedoes, and submarines. The war on land saw the rise of the greatest soldier the world had ever known--Napoleon Bonaparte--whose vast ambition was thwarted by a genius he never met in person or in battle: Admiral Horatio Nelson.     This delivery was earliest date! Condition, value, quality - all as described. (My mistake was not requiring the publishing date to be 1958. This was 1977.) This IS a Viking Portable Library copy of Dante's Divine Comedy in English, translated by Laurence Binyon, but it is with a cover DIFFERENT from what was shown. The tracking number was listed as from "UPS", but should have been listed as from "USPS." Contact with this seller alleviated tracking issues. I recommend this seller! Thank you!

Could have used some bubble wrap /sturdy cardboard. Tracking gave no information. Messaged them & they assured me it was on it's way. Location reads Florida. They ship from all over / my package read Jamaica, NY. Got a 3 CD Deluxe Edition in GREAT CONDITION at BARGAIN PRICE ! Nervous ride/Happy ending 😀👍

    Noel Mostert's The Line Upon a Wind--amazing book!

    Years ago I read Mostert's book titled FRONTIERS (1992), and learned so much about the history of South Africa, its native peoples, and colonization by the Dutch and British in early colonial history. This second book, The Line Upon a Wing, covers the history of maritime expansion--colonial, mercantile--over the world's oceans by the British and the French before and after U.S. Independence and the French Revolution. I am halfway the book and remain marveled by Mostert's research and capacity to synthesize so much knowledge, written with style and insight. The book was in like-new condition, as advertised, and packaged professionally. A trustworthy seller! Thank you.

    Great book about the Royal Navy in the age of sail. It contains a lot of facts that I didn't know. I highly recommend it.
