Failure will cost their lives and the lives of many more. Success will answer one of the greatest unresolved mysteries of the medieval world.Perfect for all lovers of a carefully crafted thriller whose plot is deftly woven through the fabric of history and driven by strong contemporary action., Seven hundred years ago, in a time of war and betrayal, Europe's greatest hoard of treasure and religious works disappeared. The men who guarded its secret simply vanished into history. In Europe today, Cassiter is a sadistic killer and criminal contractor - a master of his craft. His team is searching for something secret, something very old and with a value beyond gold. His client wants results, only results. Sam Cameron, a former army officer turned archaeology lecturer, leads his students on a fieldtrip to the coast of Fife. Helen Johnson goes too. A junior church minister and independent spirit, her yearlong exchange trip to Scotland is going well - life feels good. Meanwhile, the apparently random and brutal killing of a retired church minister has sent shockwaves through the communities he once served. Far from that turmoil, Sam and Helen's summer takes an exciting turn with a find in the dunes. What are these mystery objects? What is their connection to the Knights Templar? But suddenly, others are asking the same questions and the thrill of discovery is swept away in a rage of violence and death. Helen and Sam must draw on all their skills and experience to solve an ancient mystery and find how it links to the murdered minister. In a race for answers, their lives and the lives of those they hold dear are in the balance. Failure means death. Success will answer the greatest unresolved mystery of the medieval world., Achieved #1 best seller in Conspiracy Thrillers - Amazon.com Achieved #1 best seller in Historical Thrillers - Amazon.com An ancient treasure. A secret order. Today - a desperate race for survival. The unearthing of ancient artefacts on a remote Scottish coastline raises exciting questions. What are the mystery objects? What is their origin? News of the find quickly attracts the interest a sinister organisation whose roots are as old as the mystery objects themselves. Today, only the organisation knows the artefacts' true purpose and value. Now with a scent to follow, it will stop at nothing to hunt down the find for itself. For archaeologist Sam Cameron and his church minister companion Helen Johnson, the thrill of discovery is fleeting. Their quest to solve the mystery of the artefacts swiftly descends into a desperate life and death struggle. A series of brutal murders trails the artefacts as the hunters close in, leaving no witnesses alive behind them. With every passing day the merciless hunt intensifies. Using every bit of their knowledge and experience, Sam and Helen strive to uncover the smouldering embers of long lost secrets. Each new revelation fans the flames that flare into a spreading rage of violence and death. Their only hope is to solve the complex mystery and drag medieval Europe's greatest secret kicking and struggling into the light of day before they become the secret's next victims. 1st edition, 2nd impression edition of "The Drunken Forest," by Gerald Durrell is as pictured & described. Arrived quickly & safely! Got a great deal on it! Great communication! The book, with a protective mylar cover, was wrapped in bubble wrap, then wrapped in sturdy cardboard, then placed in a rugged bubble mailer! Fort Knox in a mailer! So hard to get an early edition of this classic! So happy to add to my growing collection of nature & science books! Thank you! !!Seller Highly Recommended!!

This delivery was earliest date! Condition, value, quality - all as described. (My mistake was not requiring the publishing date to be 1958. This was 1977.) This IS a Viking Portable Library copy of Dante's Divine Comedy in English, translated by Laurence Binyon, but it is with a cover DIFFERENT from what was shown. The tracking number was listed as from "UPS", but should have been listed as from "USPS." Contact with this seller alleviated tracking issues. I recommend this seller! Thank you!
