Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson star as Anne and Mary Boleyn in this adaptation of the bestselling novel by Philippa Gregory. While their story is perhaps one of history's most well known, THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL has fun with the facts, creating a lusty, dramatic tale of deception and betrayal. The film begins with the girls' power-hungry uncle (David Morrissey), discovering that King Henry VIII's (Eric Bana) marriage to Catherine of Aragon (Ana Torrent) is falling apart. Their uncle suggests to their father (Mark Rylance) that he tempt the King into taking Anne (Portman) as his mistress, thus putting the family in the King's favor. But the King has no time for the strong-willed Anne, and instead turns his attentions to her already married, soft-spoken sister Mary. With her eye on the Queen's crown, Anne renews her attempts to seduce the king, driving a wedge between her and her sister.Bana is a brooding, sexy Henry, and Portman and Johansson both give strong performances as the beautiful and bewitching sisters.     Good packaging and the dvd itself came perfectly. No scratches or anything. Pretty good for the price too, 10/10. Also got here really fast. I liked that the seller put bubble wrap IN the case too to keep the disc from popping out in transit. The case itself is pretty much mint condition too which was a pleasant surprise.

    A bit better than OK

    Having read the book, and found it fascinating, I was somewhat disappointed in the movie. Henry VIII had red hair & blue eyes -- yet they chose an actor with dark hair & eyes. Also, Ann Boleyn was known for her "black eyes" -- yet, Natalie Portman has blue eyes in the movie. Those discrepancies aside, I found the acting mediocre. If you enjoy reading, by all means, read the book of the same title by Phillipa Gregory. Fascinating! As for the DVD itself, it was shipped quickly, and in excellent condition. But after watching it, I passed it on to a friend, knowing that I wouldn't spend the time watching it again.

    Very well acted from top to bottom by a fine cast.

    This was a well acted movie from top to bottom. Yes, it is historical fiction but it was well researched by the book's author Phillipa Gregory (like all her books are). I am very pleased to have this DVD movie in my personal collection. The DVD extras are very informative and I urge everyone to watch them in connection with the movie itself to get a greater overall appreciation.

    The last shall be 1st!!!!!!

    The king being extremely self indulgent (hey, he's the KING!!!) shows how he could never love anyone more than himself!! The ultimate movie of betrayal where in the end good triumphs over evil and out of his many romantic conquests a Queen rules but not the ones you think!
