Accessible Ingmar; luminescent Ingrid
Originally done as a TV movie, just like the serial Scenes from a Marriage, this movie is a great contrast between Hollywood and art house cinema. Ingrid's performance was originally criticized for being too classical Hollywood. Seen today, that is why the movie works so well. She and Ullmann's differences in acting is what the story is about.
