SynopsisThis wonderful book uses the classical and Charlotte Mason methodology to give elementary school students an introduction to our solar system and the universe that contains it. Narration and notebooking are used to encourage critical thinking, logical ordering, retention, and record keeping. Each lesson in the book is organized with a narrative, some notebook work, an activity, and a project. The activities and projects use easy-to-find household items and truly make the lessons come alive They include making a solar eclipse, making craters like those found on Mercury, simulating the use of radar to determine hidden landscape, keeping track of the phases of the moon, making a telescope, making fog, and making an astrometer to measure the brightness of a star. Although designed to be read by the parent to elementary students of various grade levels, it is possible for students with a 4th-grade reading level to read this book on their own. Grades K-6.

Apologia Science Exploring Creation with Astronomy
This is a very easy to teach subject with Jeannie Fulbright's well thought out and descriptive lessons on the planets, their formation and the stars surrounding them. As with other Apologia science books, the texts are God's creation based. This book would be good for an advanced 3rd grade student-an average 7th grade student; you will not be disappointed with this text, as it is in my opinion more thorough than that covered by Abeka or Rod and Staff on the subject of the planets. An accompanying student journal would be helpful for your student to write the information in, but is not necessary to have in order to complete the text.

Great book!
I love this book. It is so amazing to be able to teach science from a Christian perspective and this book does it well. There's plenty of easy and fun experiments that mostly use stuff you probably have around the house anyway. If not, there's a list of required materials for each chapter.

Great book for homeschool science
My kids love it, and I’m learning too. Conversational tone that is easy to read out loud, with correct scientific terms explained in a way anyone can understand.

Apologia Elementary Astronomy Science
We're loving Apologia's Elementary science program! Very well written and a good way to lay a Biblical foundation and worldview in Science for kids! The journal that compliments this is super fun so far!

I think my student will love using this book for 3rd grade science. It looks very interesting and she loves Astronomy.

I am new to independent curriculum-hunting, but am very impressed with the presentation of material here. Have not implemented its use yet, so I cannot rate from that standpoint.
