Borrowing largely from cinema's horror conventions, the film begins as an innocent young couple is stranded at the home of a mad scientist who is building the perfect man. The castle is filled with a most bizarre group of characters who worship their master, Dr. Frank-N-Furter, played magnificently by the fabulously sexy Tim Curry, in leather jacket, pearls, fishnet stockings, and heavy makeup. Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon) are forced to examine their own sexuality as the voluptuous doctor releases the hidden desires in each of them.<BR>Based on the stage musical by Richard O'Brien (who also appears in the film as Riff Raff), the film comes alive with unforgettable song-and-dance numbers that have come to represent the sexual liberation of the 1970s. The outstanding costuming and makeup, the terrific acting by a group of relative unknowns (Curry, O'Brien, Bostwick, Sarandon, Nell Campbell, Patricia Quinn, Meat Loaf), and the memorable songs ("Time Warp," "Sweet Tranvestite") help make THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW one of the most bizarrely entertaining and satisfying musicals ever made.

Another brilliant find from this supplier!
Again, another brilliant find. There are lots of different versions of this DVD with lots of different extras. I just wanted the movie as it was one of the first movies that I knew would be a permanent part of my life. My son is now old enough that he’s learning the Classics and we needed to get this to add to our library. Excellent condition, not a mark on the disc, very low price, surprisingly great condition for pre owned. Far exceeded my expectations. Still a hoot after 45 years!
This disc is a copy of the movie with no reductions. It is recorded in PAL (actually PAL Plus), so it might not play on American DVD players. It is also a Dual Layer disc, so it might not play on older DVD players. I used a BluRay player and it upscaled to HD very nicely. The sound is very good, as it is recorded in 5.1 Surround Sound. Trans formative farce
This film is silly, it's just a fun movie. Rocky is to frank n furter as the monster to frank n stein The story makes little sense, the characters are loud and crass and yet it is all wrapped up in such a non offensive accepting way that it's actually good. okay, i guess
i mean, the disc works but it is in absolute horrid condition, box looks like it has been through war (scratches+shattered box), but somehow, through the grace of God, the disc works, hence the 3 stars. magpie must've been too busy hunting for worms on this particular day and completely missed out this deranged and destroyed box
