I've been collecting old paperbacks for ... well, a long time, and these were the best-wrapped, best protected, best shipped box 'o books I've ever received! The listing was accurate with clear photos. The book was carefully wrapped. For the price, it's in good shape. I intend on reading it rather than just collecting or selling. Thanks for the eBay coupon. The issue I had was USPS's media shipping, something Lola Rose Books has no control over. This item left LRB (New Mexico) on Aug. 8. From there, it went to Albuquerque, Jersey City, Richmond, Newport News, Richmond, Norfolk, VA Beach, Richmond, Norfolk, and back to VB on Aug. 19.

H. P. Lovecraft major influence on modern horror and science fiction writers
I have been reading Lovecraft's works since I was in high school. (I'm retired now). The man's incredible imagination, command of the English language and powers of description have always amazed me. Ask any popular current writer of horror or science fiction (like Stephen King and Clive Barker). They'll tell you that they discovered Lovecraft before they began their own writing careers and were profoundly influenced by him. This is huge volume and contains many stories written in Lovecraft's youth that I had never read before - which was the main reason I purchased it as a Christmas gift for my son (but we share it!) It's a beautiful and very complete volume of his stories. Personally, as much as I like Edgar Allan Poe (particularly his poetry), I prefer Lovecraft's short stories to ... Reading a great Lovecraft story always leaves me feeling somewhat anxious, intrigued and wondering about the famous quote from Hamlet (somewhat paraphrased here), "There are more things in heaven and on earth than are dreamed of in our philosophies."

If you want a lovecraft anthology book, get this. Human skin is far too expensive.
This is a beautiful book. The mashed paper flaw displayed, is exactly how I received it. 4 pages, slightly ripped. I pulled them off by hand, was no big deal at all. 4 pages in my book have triangles in them. How Euclidian. But seriously, the cover, the spine, beautiful, the edges of the pages, highlighted with silver coloring. I think this book would be at least twice as much had it not been for it's mild flaw. Great Collection Of HP Lovecraft Stories!
This book is a great collection of HP Lovecraft stories! The cover of the book is well-made & looks distinguished, the pages are nicely done, with a purple ribbon marker attached. Anyone who is a fan of Lovecraft will enjoy this book for their collection! And it will look great on one's shelf!

The cover is aesthetic. The content is complete. I miss my old collection of paperbacks, a lot less now. When I bought them, I was getting them for a nickel a piece, and it was great getting lost in the Mythos. My brothers room mate threw them out, and rebuilding the collection looked like it would be difficult. Now I've got a beautiful, classic, library worthy collection. If only the works of other authors in the Mythos were gathered together the same way. Still need to get his poetry now. The cover art is fitting for the mood of Lovecraft's work. I have not purchased a new hard cover book in a long time. I got this without hesitation, and I don't regret it. I don't have to scan through my collection, to make sure I actually have all of his stories. I'll finally be able to ... The cover is aesthetic. The content is complete. I love HP Lovecraft's stories!
Leather bound, has ribbon page marker, page edges trimmed in silver paint. Great buy for the money. Lovecraft only wrote 77 stories, so don't feel you have to buy a more expensive book. There is a forward which gives you a history of Lovecraft's life and what shaped his writing. Lovecraft's prose has been criticized, but read carefully as his detailed descriptions make the story even scarier! I am very happy with this book! I think you will enjoy is as well.Leather bound, has ribbon page marker, page edges trimmed in silver paint. Great buy for the money.
