Perfect condition.
I purchased this as a gift for a friend who vacationed In Hawaii recently. She is very interested in its’ history. James Michener (the author) makes you feel like you have a PhD after you complete one of his books. He tells compelling stories of fiction based on historical fact. “Painless history”. This book came to me in excellent condition. Very impressed! Thanks!

Awesome discripted writing.
I believe this is one of James Mitchner's finest books. The first chapter, 32 pages, is the best example of descriptive writing around. As a teacher, I've used it in writing classes. I don't think that I could write 32 pages and not mention a person or use dialog. Over all, it is a good book and a great story. I bought this for my son's Hawaiian friend, so he could read it and be a little prouder of his culture.

Great book
This book is wonderful. Traces the history of Hawaii beginning with how it was formed. While book is fiction, Michener is noted for his extensive research so it makes it fun to read without getting bogged down with dry history.
