SynopsisThe Appalachian Trail trail stretches from Georgia to Maine and covers some of the most breathtaking terrain in America-majestic mountains, silent forests, sparking lakes. If you're going to take a hike, it's probably the place to go. And Bill Bryson is surely the most entertaining guide you'll find. He introduces us to the history and ecology of the trail and to some of the other hardy (or just foolhardy) folks he meets along the way-and a couple of bears. Already a classic, A Walk in the Woods will make you long for the great outdoors (or at least a comfortable chair to sit and read in)., The Appalachian Trail trail stretches from Georgia to Maine and covers some of the most breathtaking terrain in America- majestic mountains, silent forests, sparking lakes. • True story of hiking the Appalachian Trail

I am reading this book on my Axis library app, it is so good, I wanted my husband to also read. He only reads regular books, I found this on eBay at a fantastic price, now we are both reading it at the same time; I like that. The story is non-fiction, author is funny and also gives a lot of great historical tidbits. I definitely would like to read this authors other books and will look into that.

This is cute, funny and quick witted read. The book is filled little know facts about the Appalachian Trail. The book has humor in it in unexpected places. I have seen the movie and the book is just as enjoyable. I do so recommend this book.

  • Guy is a riot

Bought the book bc I was recently on the AT down in GA but have no intention of doing the whole. Just wanted to read an experience but found a Garrison Keillor type guy and I’m in hysterics.

  • Funnier Than The Movie

This book was so much better than the movie (and funnier I might add). Bryson researched this well and I learned so much about our beautiful forests and the Appalachian Trail.

  • Put on your hiking boots!

Research information on environmental issues interspersed with comical, antecdotal narrative. Reading the book inspired me to get out there and hike some of the Appalachian Trail.
