Great for some, but not for everyone...
I really liked the movie, but my wife found it slow and boring. It has a laid-back pace, with subtle humor (definitely not the currently popular in-your-face or vulgar humor, nor was it slap-stick). Think of it more like Andy of Mayberry humor, or a very toned down Hee Haw. I'm not a listener of the PBS A Prairie Home Companion, but I believe this is pretty much a video version of that style humor, especially since Garrison Keillor is the star. Almost the entire movie was set inside a theater building, onstage and backstage. There really was not much of a plot, nor much action, but as I said, I did like it as a feel-good movie. I liked the music in the movie, too, again in country Hee Haw style.

Just what the doctor ordered.
Shipping fast. Item exactly as described. As someone who has seen a live Prairie Home Companion performance at the Fitzgerald Theatre in St. Paul, Minnesota, this certainly brings back memories. Garrison Keillor has a singular wit that guarantees laughter without resorting to more profane humor. Worth watching over and over.

Well Done and Great Fun!
I bought this movie to compare to the live radio performances and was absolutely delighted. Everyone did an excellent job conveying the flavor of the radio shows and I look forward to enjoying it often.

Fun throughout !!!
I had seen PHC on it's theatrical release and never forgot how entertaining it was... Now that it's part of my library I suspect it will get annual play... The cast can't be beaten and I feel each gave their all...

Unique story and for the family
The concept is different (ALA a radio show). Humorous, entertaining, great for Home Companion fans. Product arrived quickly, in a sealed wrapper around the disc container

Fun time live radio on film
It’s a real part of life, down home fun. Some of the real country life mixed in with the best n fun actors in film, and a story line to make it kinda exciting!!

Love this Movie
We shared our other copy with a friend last year and decided we needed another copy to keep and play forever. We love this DVD and all the characters.
