The New York Times In its common sense, clarity and accessibility, it is a fitting reflection of Franklin's sly pragmatism....This may be the book that most powerfully drives a new pendulum swing of the Franklin reputation., The New York Times Book Review A thoroughly researched, crisply written, convincingly argued chronicle.

In this authoritative and engrossing full-scale biography, Walter Isaacson shows how the most fascinating of America's founders helped define our national character. In a sweeping narrative that follows Franklin's life from Boston to Philadelphia to London and Paris and back, Isaacson chronicles the adventures of the spunky runaway apprentice who became, during his 84-year life, America's best writer, inventor, media baron, scientist, diplomat, and business strategist, as well as one of its most practical and ingenious political leaders. He explores the wit behindPoor Richard's Almanacand the wisdom behind the Declaration of Independence, the new nation's alliance with France, the treaty that ended the Revolution, and the compromises that created a near-perfect Constitution.Above all, Isaacson shows how Franklin's unwavering faith in the wisdom of the common citizen and his instinctive appreciation for the possibilities of democracy helped to forge an American national identity based on the virtues and values of its middle class., Rescuing Franklin from the cliché of the genial codger, the bestselling author of KISSINGER celebrates the most advanced and earthy of the founding fathers in a riveting biography that brings Benjamin Franklin to life., In this authoritative and engrossing full-scale biography, Walter Isaacson, bestselling author of Einstein and Steve Jobs , shows how the most fascinating of America's founders helped define our national character. Got the TV series combat, season 2 volume one from the seller and they shipped it out fast and well wrapped up for the journey. It arrived earlier than listed and in the condition they listed it as being. This is not a series easy to find out side of complete box set yet alone for the great price they sold it for. The seller showed great communication and I'd buy from them again without question. Good series and good seller.

Book is beautiful, but jacket is worn more than the pictures. Restorable, but annoying. Only wrapped in shipping plastic with no padding or other protection, but fortunately it came through ok. Overall I'm happy with the book, and seller gave a very good price, but should show more better pictures and pack the books better. Anyway, this will be a great addition to my Kubrick collection, and I can recommend the seller.

  • Great history

A great biography of a great politician. Apart from politician it was also a great philosopher, historian, writer and very attached to his family person. I strongly recommend. A very current book nowadays.
