    Great book for Artists seeking to hone their talents.

    At first I was hesitant, because the book is written in a different time era. But when you think about it the principles of art are timeless and the author is very good and comprehensively introducing skills and techniques in a way that challenges and takes your drawing to another level.

    Lee Hammond is awesome

    I had a couple of her books a few years ago when I was learning to draw, and they're so good I wanted to pick them up when I saw them. You will not be disappointed!!!

    Simple, direct instruction...

    I'm an artist and bought this book for a friend because of the clear and simple instruction. As an artist, I know that anybody that can hold a pencil can draw realistically following the grid system. This book demonstrates that technique quite well. This book along with perhaps a good book on materials and techniques and literally anyone can create a wonderful portrait. (Hammond demonstrates her techniques with a 2b mechanical pencil) If you're reading these reviews then you already have the desire to draw and I can assure you that this book will help you. Remember, drawing is a skill that can be acquired.

    Excellent book

    This is an excellent guide to drawing portraits. It is thorough and easy to follow. There is practice on each feature as well as the structure of the head and face, and even a chapter on drawing clothing.
