Understated excellence
This movie captured my attention from the beginning. Having always liked Jeff Bridges and Robert Duvall, I was prepared to enjoy fine acting and gripping story; however, what I actually saw was the cast living this story of one man's salvation. To me the excellence of story telling lies in the detail and completion that make a scene realistic. It is here. The scene in the bar when Bridges and Duvall reacquaint personifies that detail. Little mannerisms that come naturally during conversations with friends are there. Mr Bridges character is a combination of Hank Williams, Jr and Waylon Jennings with a little Willie Nelson thrown in. His understated performance makes the character his, not just a good job. I think this movie deserves a second watch to catch the little nuances overlooked the first time. By the way, if you like country music, you will like the score very much. I think Spencer Tracy said, "Don't let them catch you acting.". Well, I didn't see Bridges, Duvall or Gyllenhaal acting - they were living the story.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht
