Vicious...ly funny!
This British sitcom tells the stories happening in the life of Freddie (Ian McKellen) and Stuart (Derek Jacobi), an elderly gay couple who have been together for nearly 50 years but endure a love/hate relationship. One is/was a budding actor and the other worked in a bar when they first met, but their careers are pretty much over by the time the show starts. Now, their lives now consist of entertaining their frequent guests, making sure that their aged dog Balthazar is still breathing, and hurling caustic insults at each other. All this mostly happens in the understated but highly entertaining way British comedies are so well-known for. Doesn't hurt that the main characters are two of Britain's top actors either! The whole setting is enhanced by a lively and excellent cast of minor characters, such as Violet Crosby (Frances de la Tour), an old friend of Freddie and Stuart or Ash Weston (Iwan Rheon), a young man moving into the flat upstairs from their own. This edition contains the whole first season on one DVD, with bonus material such as 'Behind the Scenes'-clips and interviews with the actors. The viewer has approximately 134 minutes of entertaining barbs, quirky characters and somewhat unusual - really? - slice-of-life comedy to watch! (Should you have difficulties understanding some things, there is even the option of adding subtitles! Unfortunately, those are only in English. The only visible and, in my opinion, teeny-tiny minus point!) On 14 May 2016, McKellen and Jacobi appeared as Freddie and Stuart during the Eurovision Song Contest where they are seen watching the contest.

Excellent
First watched on itv 2013 thought is was funny. Watching it again now (2018) on dvd can appreciate the humour even more. Shame they not making another series. Could be a future cult classic?

Cannot wait to see series 2, did not know it was produced by the American who wrote Will & Grace!
