  • An excellent guide to 68W skills and ancillary skills for other military medical care professionals

This manual provides an excellent instruction and review of the medical knowledge required to be come a field medic and very much is a help in studying for the Field Medical Badge Qualification Course for non 68W ARMY medical professionals both officer and enlisted. I was especially impressed by the sections that are Social Work Officer specialties, mental health, substance abuse, PTSD, domestic and partner violence , sexual assault, and stress coping. The experience of the military mental health community in OIF/OEF of significant shortages of mental health resources puts extra demand in these areas for the platoon medic 68W and as a highly trained PTSD/Mental Health/ Substance Abuse Social Work Officer in both the Army and with the VA for over 5 decades I was impressed by the presentation, teaching and content of in these areas. I further learned alot about trauma care over 25 years of Part time Trauma Level 1 ER care of the psychosocial part of acute trauma intervention and honestly ER medical trauma i interventions by direct and indirect involvement in patient and family care in the Level 1 Trauma ER setting and this book is spot on with the care skills that I observed in the Level 1 Trauma ER Surgeons, Paramedics, ER physicians and ancillary staff. I am very happy with the book and I wish that I had access to it during my Army, VA and Level I Regional Trauma ER career, I would have had a greater sense of mastery of setting much more quickly. 5 stars, definitely recommended. I in depth study one professional book every one week by the pool in Key West in December and thius book is this year's choice.
