Dont regret purchase
Bleak and brutal as the name suggests. If you're seeking more Boromir and his merry band of adventurers, seek elsewhere. Tho Bean delivers as always. This is a very well made and engaging movie. Its one of those "real" feeling movies. It is never comfy but is instead very believable. It is well cast and acted by all present. The characters are interesting and unique to one another, and depth is conveyed without much exposition. The no frills, efficient realism of the violence, brief as it may be, is some of the best I've ever seen in film. The German countryside and locations are excellent (as in filmed in Germany), tho there isn't much opportunity to take it in with all the nastiness going on. In the end I was glad that it turned out to be more of a period thriller than a horror. If you enjoy these medieval types of shows, gritty shows, or even just Sean Bean or GoT, this is definitely one worth considering. It has rewatchability and is currently only $5-10 on ebay

New twist on a witch tale
Interesting movie about the plague and a town that remains untouched. The viewer is drawn into the plot as church emissaries try to unravel the mystery. Hints of Knights Templar and a nice addition to any medieval history buff collection. Here is one you may not have seen yet. I know I didn't and I thought I had seen them all. This one flew under my radar till the other day. Sean Bean tries to carry the movie but the main character is actually a young monk who is coming of age through his journey. How it effects him will be another story..
