    Limited Product Application but great if you have the right camera!

    This Sony ECM-W1M wireless microphone system will work properly on only a few Sony cameras and camcorders, so be sure and check the list of compatible cameras that Sony provides. This wireless microphone system works well with my Sony HDR-CX675 Camcorder (which is on the list) and, as expected, it does not work well with my Sony HDR-CX580 (which was NOT on the list of compatible cameras). Note that the mic transmitter uses a single AAA battery for its power source but the receiver's only power source is a compatible hotshoe found on SOME of Sony camcorders and cameras. I have not done extensive testing with it yet, but other reviewers have suggested that the may be a line-of-sight issue which, for me, is not a problem that can't be worked out with a little planning.
