Throughout the '50's, Lefty Frizzell was one of the biggest stars on the country music scene, scoring 16 Top 10 hits, five of them reaching the top spot. He was largely responsible for popularizing the honky-tonk sound and was a huge influence on the likes of Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, George Jones and many more.
