Product Information

Lewis Milestone replaced Carol Reed as director on this third version of Nordhoff and Hall's classic true account of naval rebellion. The film stars Marlon Brando as the spirited Fletcher Christian and Trevor Howard as the tyrannical Captain Bligh. Their ship, the Bounty, leaves Portsmouth in 1787, on a mission to gather breadfruit in Tahiti. As the journey progresses, however, the Captain reveals a penchant for ruthlessness that turns his entire crew against him. After they leave the paradisical Tahiti, it's only a matter of time before the situation explodes.

Mutiny on the story nowadays?
A great cast is led by England's great Trevor Howard. Although the popular story of the mutiny on the Bounty, as depicted in every celluloid version of that event, is once again true to that theme of a tyrannical and sadistic Captain Bligh driving the crew to mutiny - the reason for the factual rebellion of HALF of the Bounty's crew - is open to question. Alternative research suggests that though a stern disciplinarian, Bligh was also simply a superb mariner that history might have significantly wronged. Mind you, no-one should be too surprised though if Hollywood just might have overcooked the "Bligh the mindless sadist will put more bums on seats again" angle. should they? Still, it's a good movie though!

One of the best versions of this movie; fabulous actors.
Everything to love about this movie and I believe it's perhaps the best one out of the three Mutiny movies produced. The ship was built for the movie and I believe still existence. Features tell about the ship, filming, who purchased it after the movie was made, and where it is today.

It's a great movie and the dvd is high quality although the original 'mutiny on the bounty' with clark gable and charles laughton is the real classic!

Lesson learned of how cruelty is a weekness, the video was clear, the story was great and very enjoyable. I was entertained and educated.

No good blank disc.
Got movie put it in the player and everytime it say error no disc. Disc looks new no scratches, cracks or fingerprints. Tried it in another player it said it was a blank disc . We were really looking forward to watching it

Brando is excellent!
Brando is at his best in this saga of the Bounty. I had to buy this movie because not only is the acting fantastic but the music background is very exciting. This is the best of the three versions offered by Hollywood. Trevor Howard is the hatful captain Blyth and there are several other famous British actors l Richard Harris and Hugh Griffith. Recommend highly!

Excellent, it's a classic.
The acting was superb and the cinematography was excellent. Ali in all a very entertaining and absorbing movie.

Mutiny on the Bounty one of my all time favourites. Tells the story of the bounty ship leaving England and sailing to Tahiti for the plant bread fruit. Great movie.

Good until 2nd disc stopped playing!!
A disc that worked! 2nd disc just stopped play, half way through, never saw the ending!!

Has always been one of my favorite movies. Love Marlon Brando in this movie. Good price for the DVD
