When his friend and coworker suddenly dies, train enthusiast Finbar McBride (Peter Dinklage) inherits an abandoned railway station in rural New Jersey. A dwarf who avoids social contact whenever possible, Fin treks out to the property and moves in. However, his newly isolated life is disrupted by Joe (Bobby Cannavale), the outgoing operator of a roadside refreshment stand, and Olivia (Patricia Clarkson), a reclusive artist who is grieving the loss of her son. As Joe and Olivia slowly bring Fin out of his shell, all three people are affected by their newfound friendships.Written and directed by Thomas McCarthy, THE STATION AGENT wonderfully mixes drama and comedy in a beautiful countryside setting. Although the storyline acknowledges that the main character is a dwarf and refers to this on numerous occasions, there is much more to the character of Fin McBride than his short stature. As Fin, Dinklage gives an outstandingly nuanced performance, one that is perfectly complemented by Cannavale's happy-go-lucky Joe and Clarkson's mourning Olivia. The movie also features excellent supporting turns by Michelle Williams and Raven Goodwin. Touching but never sappy, THE STATION AGENT is a charming film that easily joins the ranks of other quirky rural dramas such as WHAT'S EATING GILBERT GRAPE? and THE STRAIGHT STORY.

    Something happened in the mail it got lost. I talked to the buyer. He was trying to help me figure out at the post office What happened? he was very helpful Trying to get the package location. we figured out the package got lost. I cannot see how when they have the number tracking number but anyway. The seller refunded my money if I ever get a chance, I will buy from him again.

    They arrived in a timely manner and were appropriately packaged. The description was accurate and it was a great value since I was essentially receiving two (2) for the price of one. The manufacturer said that the "life" of the units should not have been impacted since they had never been in service previously.

    A Wonderful Human Interest Story

    The plot involves a married woman who has lost her child, a dwarf who inherited a railroad station and an hispanic who talks incessantly. At the beginning of the movie, the owner of the model train shop where the dwarf worked dies suddenly. The lawyers liquidate the inventory and re lease the shop. They inform the dwarf that he inherited a little used rail station. The day after the dwarf arrives, he meets the hispanic who is temporarily operating a mobile cafe near the railroad station. A short while later, while walking, the dwarf is nearly run over the married woman who was not watching where they were going. Following a rough start, they become great friends. (More detail would ruin the story for people who have yet to see it.

    Amazing!!!

    Excellent movie! I am not sure exactly why I am drawn to this movie. I got The Station Agent because Peter Dinklage is in it, but that's not the reason I like it. I guess it's because this movie is real and very relatable. I watched it everyday on vacation for a week straight. I even have it on my phone and watch it during lunch at work. I highly recommend it. The Station Agent is definitely worth the buy!
