Focusing on an upper-middle-class California family, the show daringly portrayed controversial subject matter such as child abuse, extramarital affairs, and teenage alcohol dependency. The Lawrence family consisted of lawyer and patriarch Doug (James Broderick), housewife and mother Kate (Sada Thompson), and their children Nancy (Baxter), Willie (Gary Frank), and pre-teen Buddy (McNichol). FAMILY - Underrated as one of THE BEST TV show of the 70's - A must see!
'Family' (not 'The Family' as titled when I purchased) was the anti 'All In The Family Show' of its time. This unique series showed us how, through most difficult times and tribulations, actions and discussing feelings honestly can resolve issues (most of the times). The show's creator Mike McNichol was not afraid to tackle virtually any controversial subject head on. This show was one of Aaron Spelling's best with an all star cast including a young Kristy McNichol and the talented (guest) actor/pianist John Rubinstein. Critically Acclaimed TV Series from the 1970s
