A film that is exciting, enticing, memorable and familiar.
This is a holiday favorite since it was produced in 1939. It was shown on TV around 1960 and was such a big hit that it's shown every year around the holidays. The main characters all are searching to improve their lives by getting the most important factor to lead them to a meaningful existence. They have many tasks and obstacles in their way but in the end are successful. That is a familiar tale told many different ways over the ages. Having this in Blu-ray exposes many of the things that were unseen in the old film. For example, it was the first time I ever saw a skeleton head over the inside door of the carnival barker. The clarity produced in this Blu-ray version will make those who have seen it want to see it again and again. Bought this for a family member that doesn't have cable and didn't have any copy of oz!!. I have the set on DVD in the giant box with the coffee table book from some years ago. This is a great set and a great value with all the same materials... IN ADDITION TO WHEN THE LION ROARS. This has always been one of MY favorite movies, and I'm happy to share this version with another family member.
