I was looking for a recorder to simplify my recording, this fits the bill nicely. I can still send what i record on the zoom into my DAW. I can let the recorder run during a jam session and then go back and pick out the stuff I want and delete what I dont need. Just a lot faster and easier for me. I am a older retired guy and not all that well versed in this digital world, I remember a time when you turned on the reel to reel and jammed and then went back to see what I captured, this gives me more control and is just what I was looking for. I like the recorder.
It's familiar like a daw but has the simple functionality of a normal multi track recorder, the effects compression, noise gate, limiter, are what really sold me, clean preamps with the ability to also use it as an interface is nice too although you don't seem to have as much control over routing and volume it's a solid feature.
It is great for doing small projects at home and on the fly . The screen does take some getting used to you have to double check for the first bit if you touch the right buttons
