Product Information

Kenneth Branagh makes his directorial debut and also plays the title role in HENRY V, a film that began a resurgence of interest in films of Shakespeare's plays. Henry is a young king seeking a way to make his mark on history. He gets his chance when he learns he can make a legal claim to the throne of France. He does, and arrives in France with a small army that soon meets with violent resistance from the French. The film follows Henry and his men through the brutality of fifteenth century warfare as the ragtag band confronts heavy opposition and their own destinies on a rainy French battlefield. The film expertly balances the thrilling heroics of the battle sequences with the painful and complex reactions of men who are sometimes unsure of the justice of their cause. True to Shakespeare's original text, an unnamed Chorus (Derek Jacobi) appears periodically, filling in details and offering a running commentary on the action. HENRY V is a rousing, fascinating film about the power of courage and the price of glory.

    Packed in a make shift box that offered very little protection for this fragile item. That box was put into a small cushioned envelope. Item was described as undamaged yet it arrived with a very noticeable broken foot. Seller offered half refund. After looking at the original pictures, the item was displayed broken. It looked like a camera glare. Was sold as a very broken piece yet described as undamaged. I will never buy from this seller again.

    "Once More Unto The Breach..." And Again And Again For Me!

    I've loved this film since it was first released. It's Shakespeare directed by Kenneth Branagh, who also plays the lead role. That says it all, really. Branagh, along with the amazing all-star cast (which includes Ian Holm, Derek Jacobi, Judy Dench, Emma Thompson, Christian Bale, Robbie Coltrane, Brian Blessed... the list goes on...) brings The Bard's great work to life for me. And then there's Agincourt... Legendary! I have seen it so many times, I've lost count; but it never gets old for me.

    A Dasterdly Battle

    I think this movie was made for the man who likes gore and battles of the ancient kings of England. A little too bloody and graphic for me, but I believe the story to be true. Branagh is riveting at times, and I love Judi Dench in anything, but she has a small part in this. A little slow at first, but that is character building time, and if you can get through that, then you'll love the whole bloody thing!

    Entertaining Movie

    Great movie to watch as it has a strong storyline which is realistic and entertaining. All of the characters played out are engaging and captivating throughout the whole movie.

    Henry V - Shakespeare brought to life

    This film is so good that while watching it the first time my nine year old came in and WATCHED with me.
