Slice of film history with a good bonus feature.
The remastering makes the picture look quite good, although the 16mm footage (predominantly the Mardi Gras portion) remains at a lower resolution which is to be expected. My feeling is it is appropriate that footage be a bit on the grainy side due to the nature of what is being presented. It works. I appreciated the bonus feature "Shaking the Cage" as it provided additional insight I was only vaguely aware of before viewing. Easy Rider's place in film history is secure, but the story line itself has not aged well for me. I remember seeing the film for the first time at it's release and being moved by it. Chalk it up to being a 17 year old - or perhaps the distance from the social issues - but whatever you may attribute the change to, it no longer moves me in the way it did in 1969. In the STC feature Hopper mentions that there were no films being made that truly reflected the youth culture at the time which is somewhat true. There were certainly none that reflected the "druggy" side of the culture in a meaningful way - most were exploitative at best. Easy Rider tackles that side of the culture. As far as if it's worth owning, perhaps for the truly committed fan. Is it worth seeing, yes, if only for getting a feel for what this film accomplished - especially when compared to the other films released at this same time.

Easy Rider DVD
Movie fits my TV screen perfect and the picture quality is surprisingly good . Better then I thought it would be. Can’t vouch for the sound . I only have the TV speakers which ain’t much .

Easy Rider DVD movie played great, It did look like some very minor scuff marks on the silver play part from handling, but it had no effect on playback.

Heavyweight under the radar.
This is a classic movie. I am 58 years old and I have always loved it from the first time I saw it.

Classic hippie movie. Had not seen it for years and totally enjoyed watching it again. A great addition to my video library!

Love it
I of course have seen this movie previously and loved it and the music in it then. I forgot how short the movie was and how it ended. Definitely worth seeing again and again and again.
