Great for podcast capture.
I am using it to prepare podcasts - I need portable as I record somewhere special - a room with suitable acoustic environment, but also need to capture relevant outdoor noises for the podcasts. It works well with all my dynamic and condenser mics that range from brand new to 40 years old. It has a great selection of features in such a small package, and the sound quality is excellent with very low noise. I have not had it long, and have not used all the features. My main problems have been with the USB port. It cannot power and send data at the same time, and you must power-down to switch between these functions. If you have no batteries in it (or they are flat) you lose all your settings.

Superb replacement for my 6 year old zoom H4n
Used H4n for years after dropping it I needed a replacement. The Tascam has excellent sound quality. The slate makes lip sync spot on every time. Although a large unit it is far mor convenient than the zoom. Do not hesitate to buy. At this price there is nothing to touch it.

Ideal for the, 'One man band.'
This lightweight, portable 4 channel recorder is ideal for single operator shoots. It's quick and easy to set up and operate and the results I have so far achieved are comparable with higher priced, professional recorders.

Nice recordings and ease of use
Important functions available by use of front dials - no need to dive into menus after initially setting up.
