SOON TO BE A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE DIRECTED BY STEVEN SPIELBERGThe Sci-Fi Sensation of the Year - a jaw-droppingly cinematic space opera, part classic coming-of-age story, part brilliant pop-culture mash-up PRE-ORDER NOW - READY PLAYER TWO- THE SEQUEL ______________________ THE BOOK BEHIND THE MAJOR MOTION PICTURE DIRECTED BY STEVEN SPIELBERG Now available for the first time in a beautiful hardback edition, perfect for hardcore fans and collectors A world at stake. A quest for the ultimate prize. Are you ready? It's the year 2044, and the real world has become an ugly place. We're out of oil. We've wrecked the climate. Famine, poverty, and disease are widespread. Like most of humanity, Wade Watts escapes this depressing reality by spending his waking hours jacked into the OASIS, a sprawling virtual utopia where you can be anything you want to be, where you can live and play and fall in love on any of ten thousand planets. And like most of humanity, Wade is obsessed by the ultimate lottery ticket that lies concealed within this alternate reality- OASIS founder James Halliday, who dies with no heir, has promised that control of the OASIS - and his massive fortune - will go to the person who can solve the riddles he has left scattered throughout his creation. For years, millions have struggled fruitlessly to attain this prize, knowing only that the riddles are based in the culture of the late twentieth century. And then Wade stumbles onto the key to the first puzzle. Suddenly, he finds himself pitted against thousands of competitors in a desperate race to claim the ultimate prize, a chase that soon takes on terrifying real-world dimensions - and that will leave both Wade and his world profoundly changed. ____________________________________ If you loved READY PLAYER ONE and can't wait for more, check out ARMADA, Ernest Cline's geek masterpiece! Great service. Item arrived 14th May 2025. As described. Well packaged. A good seller. A good price. Book in unused condition. Like most recent Helion publications this is a soft back book. It has plenty of illustrations inside.

  • A real page turner (to coin a cliche term)

One of the most exciting and fresh books i have read in a long time (and i read a lot!). The concept is brilliant and draws excellent parallels with today's society and dependence/fascination with online games. It appeals to the inner geek and all lovers of fantasy/quest novels. You really are rooting for the main protagonist. The fact that it draws a lot of experiences from the 80's is also a brilliant concept. This may not be the best review ever - but i cant recommend enough that you read it. Will not regret it.

Such a great book. My friend told me to buy it so i gave it a go. The story was gripping from start to finish and was such an easy read. Might be worth reading it now before Speilberg ruins it next year as a movie!

  • If you’re into pop culture

Fun, full of detail, brilliant story, love all the side notes and references. This guy is an awesome writer. Brings back nostalgic times when Atari was the best thing since sliced bread. Recommend.

If you grew up in the 80's, playing on your Atari ST, watching 80's action and horror films... basically, if you look fondly on that decade, you'll love this book. It's a joy to recognise all the references. Delivery was very fast. Arrived 3 days before expected delivery date!
