Everything about this production is pure joy!
Of all Jane Austen's delightful novels, this has perhaps the simplest plot and one of the loveliest settings. (It's always a joy to be in Bath.) The characters are delightful, and at least one of the villains is wonderfully and unintentionally funny. The movie version provides an additional attraction in that the two main actors are warm and lovable.

Northanger Abbey
A wonderful Jane Austen work. The actors are very good in making you believe. The sets and costumes are also excellent. Masterpiece Theatre is a better production than the old BBC version.

Entertaining but not terribly complicated
I enjoy movies based on Jane Austen Novels. This is more predictable than most, but still entertaining. I'd much rather watch a movie like this than a movie with lots of violence or fantastic creatures.

Northanger Abbey is an excellent movie!
I love this movie! It goes back to a more innocent time where life was much more simple. It's a terrific romance with beautiful scenery.

Northanger Abbey
This is not my favorite Jane Austen story but it's still a good production. Though I'd seen it before it had been a while so I enjoyed revisiting it and am happy to add it to my collection.

Entertaining
I have become a Jane Austin fan and this production of Northanger Abbey is one of my favorites. The casting is for me just right. This version is also uncut.

Jane Austen fans will accept this production, but only just.
Like most works involving Jane Austen, it is inherently interesting, but it is not the best production of Austen’s works I have seen. The characters are a little wan, and the big secret fails to shock or even convince.

The best version out there.
I am so grateful that the BBC finally made a new version. All I had before this was the 1986 version and I just couldn't stand it!
