Worth the effort---but read the book
I read the book and admired it, so I was curious about the movie. The cast of international stars is impressive, and the director well-known; however the movie did not quite to cohere for me. I ended up thinking that if I had not read the book, I might have had trouble understanding what was going on. However, the film is picturesque and well-acted for the most part. Perhaps the problem was the babel of accents---adjusting the ear to English, German and Latin-accented dialogue is challenging. The story, about what happens to friends who dared to fight a dictator is intrinsically interesting. It is difficult to translate some ideas into film; this is a flawed but worthwhile effort.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht
