Although this film is about one hour in length, the script allows the characters to cut to the chase where it becomes love at first sight for both of them with mounting complications. Vintage character actors add humor into the mix of the torn lovers, trying to aid the romance along the way. Some would argue that this film was 'in media res' but I think not. The complicated voyage has a couple stops along the way but the attraction between Kay Francis and William Powell stays the course with the hour going by enjoyably. This film will resonate with anyone who remembers "Love Affair" with Charles Boyer and Irene Dunne.
