Item damaged
One of the barrier arms was cracked rendering it ineffective as cannot be assembled to the base unit having lost it's spring tension on the rotation point. This damage was not as a result of transit. Disappointing.

Flimsy gates
This is a reasonable scale model of a gated double-track level crossing but the design of the gates and posts really lets it down. The hinges into which the gates fit, which are part of the posts, are made of extremely thin and brittle plastic which breaks very easily. Despite taking considerable care in fitting gates, several of the hinges broke on the example I purchased, which leaves the gates hanging slackly and at an inauthentic angle and prevents their swinging neatly open. This ruins the appearance of the crossing, hence the one star rating which I have given it.
