These are great quality filters; I had one that I left outside for 6 months in the elements and I cleaned it with bleach and it worked just like brand new! It was already several years old by that time! Great filter
I bought a used aquarium for my classroom. It came with a Marineland filter system. When it wore out over Christmas break the water and sides of the aquarium were very green. I replaced the filter with the same type because I had extra filter replacements for it. Marineland products usually are so much better than this!!
Filter worked for a grand total of 3 days in a 30g. After that it would consistently stop running every 8-12 hrs. It would overheat and the motor would stop. I could feel the heat through the body of the filter from where it was overheating. I had to disassemble, allow to cool, fiddle with the turbine then it would run again for another 8-12 hours. Had much higher expectations from a marineland product. Ended up replacing with a store bought internal canister. I do not suggest this product.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

Good Filter, But The Noise Has To Go!
I bought this filter to replace my Marineland Emperor 280 which I've had for over 12 years and had been discontinued. This filter works well if you don't mind a noisy filter. The filter itself isn't noisy, it's the overflow after it goes by the Bio-Wheel and it hits the water. It sounds like you have a mini waterfall in your living room. That's where the noise is located. It's so loud that I have to turn the tv up quite a bit to listen to it! Aside from the noisy overflow, the filter works rather well on my 33 gallon bowfront tank. I was surprised to see it work as quick as it did when first placed on the tank. I really want to say that it works as well as my old Emperor 280 and I thought that the 280 was the best filter I have ever owned! There is NO adjustment knob for the angle of the water (Jets) hitting the Bio-Wheel. I really think that this missing feature is what's causing the filter to be so noisy! Other than the noise, the Penguin 200 is a pretty good filter...now if I can only figure out how to stop the noise...lol. I hope this helps... Stay safe... RicoBestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

Great but kind of a gimmick
A good filter. can have 2 cartridges and has great flow and design. The suction tube is under water when filled properly so the filter is highly unlikely to lose prime and not be able to reprime itself, and a great overflow design. The only down side I have found are the bio-wheels. I removed the wheel from both of my filters as they just are not great and more of a gimmick. My biggest issue was when i filled my tanks the wheel would slap the water and make terrible noise along with disrupting the smoother flow of the water out of the filter.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

Lightwieight
I just got it about a week now, no problem yet so far. However, this one is the replacement of the previous one that was also Marineland filter. I had the old one for more than 6 years without problem. I replaced the old one because I wanted the lightweight one and the old one had visible mineral deposited along the edge of the filter . Great Brand Works well But improvements are needed....
Great Brand Works well But improvements are needed....This is my second purchase of this product. The first one stopped working, momentarily but started after some maneuvering of the base and the stem,, then only after 4 months of owning this unit it totally stopped working...Warranty is Iffy as far as I'm concerned, so I went out and got this one...Installed this morning. Testament from the fish shows they are thrilled. .flipping around like that are playing and happy...so hopefully this one will last. The company could improve on the noise it makes...even when water level is high..it is rather loud. The Bio wheel gets stuck for no apparent reason...so other than that bottom take, Its a goo sturdy unit with advance feature but tweaks are needed to correct issues I stated.
