    Entertaining

    A movie with Cary Grant could rarely miss on the entertainment value. This is also one of those, a bit light hearted romcom. It has a natural propaganda element (of WW2), which I normally avoid, but it wasn't so obvious to make it unbearable. The movie is about one of the not-too-straight hero (Grant), a professional (read unethical) gambler, who avoids getting drafted, by assuming the name of one who was medically unfit. Naturally he would fall in for one of the persons on other end of spectrum, a woman, who can't be drafted (why? there were WACs), and sells war-bonds instead. It is all about is transformation (thankfully not due to heroine, but due to some other factor). Eexcellent part by some of the people on side, especially Charles Bickford, who had many times played the supporting ...

    I searched for this movie for YEARS, that is how good it is.

    I have tried to find this movie for years but did not know the name of it, I just remember the movie so it must be good and it is. Of course the two of the best leading woman and man are in it so it has to be great. I bought another movie but it was not the right one and I was very disappointed but this time it was the right one and it is just as good as I remembered it. Bad guy had a change of heart and tried to do the right thing but the other bad guy wouldn't let him and well; buy the dvd I don't want to spoil the ending for you but it takes a very unusual twist. Very entertaining plot. Black and white made in the days when actors and actresses really new how to act.

    A good watch from 1943.

    This 1943 film is a classic Cary Grant movie. Not like todays movies, these classics outrank todays hands down in my opinion. No computer generated imagery here. The actors had to rely on their talent and that's what this is. Given the year the movie was made they had to use some tricks of the trade for some screen shots but overall its about the acting, keeping you interested. Cary Grant was versatile in his roles and he does a good job here as well. If you want to see a comedy with some romance, this is a good watch. IMDB rates this movie at a 7.2 out of 10. I'd give it at least an 8. I purchased this in DVD format as it isn't available on Blu-ray. The DVD wasn't too fuzzy or washed out so it was a good watch.
