'This addition to the Cambridge Companion series aspires to do more than simply provide a solid source of reference for the student of modern Irish culture ... This rethinking of historical narratives provides an illuminating frame for understanding Ireland's experience over the last two centuries. ... stimulating collection.' Irish University Review, '… Joe Cleary and Claire Connolly show their editorial gifts. … [Their] companion is an intelligent guide to the cultural complexities of modern Ireland. … an engaging contribution to Ireland's contemporary refiguration, composing a set of consistently provocative interventions that question the assumptions we hold as to what Ireland is, has been and may be.'Field Day Review, '… a stimulating introduction to the richness of Irish culture over the last 200 years.' Reference Reviews, "The Companion is an impressive collection of advanced Irish scholarship. A quarter century ago, Terence Brown wrote that 'in Ireland intellectual, cultural, and social history are each infant disciplines.' The Cambridge Companion to Modern Irish Culture constitutes powerful evidence that these disciplines are now developing in Ireland in a number of compelling trajectories." - Mater Dei INstitute of Education, Dublin City University, 'This addition to the Cambridge Companion series aspires to do more than simply provide a solid source of reference for the student of modern Irish culture … This rethinking of historical narratives provides an illuminating frame for understanding Ireland's experience over the last two centuries. … stimulating collection.' Consistently challenging and intermittently captivating in its insights, this Companion stands as one of the most noteworthy contributions to Irish Studies in recent years.' Great transaction, exactly as described, packed well, and promptly shipped on August 6th. Unfortunately the U.S. Postal Service took 23 calendar days to deliver the book. It was shipped from Pennsylvania, to Atlanta, past Alabama to Texas, enjoyed several days in Texas, then to Minneapolis, Jacksonville, Florida, back to Atlanta, finally to Birmingham, and Huntsville. The seller was very responsive and I decided it was interesting to see if/how the book would arrive. Thanks, Joe
