Got a little reaction from the smoke detector. A little more in the “normal” range here and there. I like that it audibly clicks as the readings go up. I mainly got it because my cat is going in for radiation treatment for her hyperthyroidism and will be radioactive for a couple of weeks when she comes home. Got it to monitor that. Went with this particular one as it was well reviewed. A+++ for fast delivery.

It also comes equiped with a USB type C connector, which is very useful. It is a very interesting scientific tool and teaching aid. The dot matrix screen is clearly readable and also backlit. I would recommend also finding some source of radiation to test it out, because background radiation is not very high. I would definetely buy it again.
