frolicking good time with an australian cast
this production enhances all the charm of the joseph papp nyc production in 1980 with its own twists. the performances by everyone are well done, and the playing up to the audience is hilarious. the switching between different musical genres is a new take on the sullivan composition, but it works very well. i would put this version slightly below the linda rondstadt/rex smith version, but only slightly, only because i think the broadway production has better-looking leads, but that's a very subjective opinion.

Energetic!
not your traditional Pirates of Penzance, but, the acting and characters did wonderful service to the operetta. Just like G & S parody, this one would have probably made them happy.

Delightful!
Not quite as good as their version of The Mikado, but still campy and thoroughly good fun!

pirates of penzance was writen as a satorical comment jon english carrys this theme on to engaged the audience
jon english make the role his own. energy, comedy and interplay with the audience
